To get to Lava Spring (now called Canyon Tank),
take the Airport Road north out of Williams, Arizona. Turn
left (west) on the first pipeline access road you come to.
In about 2.5 miles you'll reach the railroad tracks. Turn
right onto the railroad access road on the near side of the
tracks. In about 1.25 miles you'll see a drainage culvert
under the railroad. Canyon Tank is upstream (south) on
this creek. At this point you can either park on the north
side of the tracks or drive through the culvert and park on the
south side of the tracks (whichever way you do it be sure you
don't park within the railroad right-of-way: pull off onto a
side road). It's less than a mile hike from the tracks
to the tank.
